The Slip-On Akrapovic exhaust system for the BMW 1M consists of light-weight, aircraft grade titanium, newly developed dual-outlet mufflers . Power increases are realized from as low as 2,500 rpm all the way to redline, and the majority of these gains occur between 3,000 and 6,500 rpm with a proper exhaust, such as this one. This is a substantial increase across a very wide rpm range, and as such it increases responsiveness during all phases of driving. Akrapovic has developed several different 1M exhaust configurations to suit all tuning applications. The basis of all the configurations is their Titanium* Slip-On system. Utilizing a single muffler arrangement, the Slip-On is designed to be modular. In its basic mode, all exhaust gases flow through the main body of the muffler, giving you a deeper rumble of an exhaust note compared to stock without any drone. In Europe this system meets TÜV standards for noise. However, the muffler system is built in such a way that by replacing a blocking plate with our Wireless Kit valve system the driver is able to noticeably increase the volume of the exhaust at the press of a button. Once activated, the majority of the exhaust gases route through the muffler bypass outlets.
One of the most important aspects of driving a high performance European sports car is the way it sounds. At Akrapovic countless hours are spent making sure the systems they produce have unmatched acoustics. Simply making the exhaust louder than stock is not the answer. Designing a system that delivers a deep, rich growl at cruising speeds while also allowing the driver to enjoy an aggressive roar when driven hard is our goal. All of this is done without introducing any droning or harshness that could ruin the driving experience. In short, Akrapovic makes sure the car sounds the way it was always meant to.
All 1M systems are available with either titanium or carbon fiber tail pipes. Both versions feature a spherical mounting system to allow for perfect alignment of all four tips. The carbon fiber tips are constructed at our in-house production facility using "prepreg" cloth that is vacuum-bagged and autoclaved. The result is an attractive yet extremely durable part.
Also available are optional, improved, Stainless Steel downpipes which help open up the exhaust for even greater air flow and higher performance numbers. Akrapovic offers a complete exhaust valve control switch for this system as well that allows the driver to take complete control over the bi-modal exhaust valves, regardless of their RPMs. Please select your exhaust options from the drop-down menus below.
This system is still finishing production and will be officially available in Early October of 2011.
